Chloe has been sleeping in her own room for the past few months now. Except about a month ago, she went to watch a school-mandated play at the CCP with Nanay (my Mom) which apparently featured scary creatures flying outside the window. Now she's scared to sleep alone. (Now I want to scold the school!)
Anyway, tonight, Chloe insisted again on either myself or Louie sleeping in the room until she falls asleep. I have not been fortunate enough to convince her that these "bruhahas" as she calls em, do not exist. So I went another route:
Mommy Angel: You know what the bruhahas are scared of, Chloe? They're scared of Jesus.
Chloe: Jesus? He scares the bad people away?
Mommy Angel: Yes! If we put his picture near all the windows of your room, the bruhahas will be scared and burn and die!
Chloe: Wow, so they're scared of Jesus? So no bad people will come near me?
Mommy Angel: Yep, yep!
Chloe: (Thinking hard) If they're scared of Jesus, then why did the bad people steal your laptop from the car?
Mommy Angel: Er, um... hmmmmm. (Thought bubble: This kid is too smart for me)
Needless to say, I still managed to convince her that images of Jesus and Mary would do the trick. So I printed two pictures of Jesus with children for her bedroom window and 1 picture of Mama Mary for the other bedroom window. And oh, another picture of Jesus in the bathroom.
It's almost 2 AM, and she's sound asleep. So far, so good. Thanks Jesus!
